Altar Guild
The Altar Guild ministry is composed of members who care and prepare the Sanctuary for worship. In addition, Altar Guild members prepare and set up Holy Communion each week. Following worship, volunteers help clean up and store the vessels and linens used for Communion.
Assisting Ministers
Volunteers assist the Presiding Minister by leading portions of the worship service, which includes singing and/or reading liturgical portions of the Divine Service. Training is provided as needed, and rehearsals for the sung liturgy are available.
Acolytes
Acolytes play an important role in worship. The word acolyte means “one who helps,” and MDLC Acolytes do just that! These volunteers light and extinguish candles, collect the offering, and assist with communion and baptisms. Students in elementary school are encouraged to participate. Training is provided.
Communion Assistants
This ministry helps distribute communion during worship. Confirmed and Baptized volunteers are welcome to serve in this special way. Training is provided.
Greeters
This is it…a visitor walks into MDLC. This is a big step. Greeters have the opportunity to make the all-important first impression. If you are passionate about making people feel welcome and have the ability to connect with people, please consider serving in this special way.
Handbell Choir
The bell choir provides music during church services and is directed by Carol Mungavin. The bell choir meets Tuesdays in the Bell Room.
Lectors
Love to read God's Word? Take this opportunity to read God’s Word. Lectors
read the appointed scripture lessons during worship. Training is provided as needed. Open to anyone who enjoys sharing God’s Word.
Parish Choir
Love to sing? Come and join the Parish Choir! This group assists in worship on a regular basis throughout the year, including festival Sundays and Holy Days. This group is open to all vocalists in high school through adult.
Sunday School Singers
This group meets at the beginning of the Sunday School hour each week at 9:15 am. Throughout the year they learn various hymns and songs of the faith. During the school year they present these various selections regularly in worship. Don’t attend Sunday School? Contact MDLC’s Director of Music, Pamela Tamburello, to arrange for a way to be involved in this great group!
Ushers
Volunteering as an Usher is an opportunity to serve the church in a rather unique way. Ushers distribute worship folders, welcome visitors, count attendance, gather the offering and assist during Communion. This ministry provides a positive first impression of MDLC to guests, which is a very important role.
